I'm Neal Justine Cruz, a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Architecture at National University Philippines.

I've worked as a Junior Architect shortly after I graduated. After much thought, I decided to switch careers in the middle of the pandemic as the construction industry is vulnerable with continuous lockdowns. I tried to think outside of the box and get out of my comfort zone, I looked at other things that I'm passionate about and tried to start from there. Starting my own food business was one of them. It was a working business and for me it was successful on its own but the problem is the stability of running this type of business with no clear idea when the pandemic will end.

Got back to thinking of what I can pursue during these hard times and came up with none other than designing and arts which is what I was doing since I first held a pencil. Not house design or building design but graphic design. I was always tied up with arts. I did freelance jobs when I was in high school by drawing portraits for friends, family, for other people and sometimes for myself. I'm also into photo editing, post-processing, and layout design which helped me a lot in Architecture school. Learned how to use CADD, 3D modelling, and 3D rendering software too while studying and made use of these skills to do more freelance works while studying. 

 

While admittedly, my weakness when I was in Architecture is designing layouts, I now enjoy doing it when I learned about using other software. I also did some logo designing for myself and for my friends. 

 

All these experiences whether professional or hobbies made me well-versed in various design aspects. I have a deep understanding on design theories and concepts that I learned from Architecture school. I'm also proficient with working on software in general and a quick-learner as most of these skills are self-taught. Designing is always full of excitement as there are endless things to learn and there is no right or wrong answer to every design problem.
